At the end of 2024, we had the valuable opportunity to establish contact with the Higher Education Department of the Cusco Regional Education Office. During the first quarter of 2025, this connection was consolidated through meetings with directors of various Higher Education Schools of Pedagogy (EESP), where we planned working sessions and workshops for students, focusing on the methodological strategies promoted by Alma.
However, we found ourselves facing a reality that was far from what we initially expected. Among the main challenges, we identified the late hiring of directors and teachers, discrepancies in the curriculum for pre-professional internships at EESPs, and poor coordination between EESP authorities. These factors reveal a complex landscape that requires not only understanding but also committed action. For the Alma team, these challenges represent an opportunity to mediate, cooperate, and contribute significantly to the training process of future teachers. Our mission is clear: to introduce and consolidate the Alma methodology in the public schools, to train professionals capable of transforming the classroom into a dynamic space where complex thinking is fostered and the entire educational community is actively involved.
One of the concrete achievements along this path is the connection with the La Salle Public School of Urubamba. We enthusiastically plan to begin joint activities in the second half of 2025. This new setting represents an enriching experience for us: working directly with student teachers, who will have the capacity to become agents of change in their future schools. We are convinced that challenges are also sources of inspiration. At Alma, we continue to champion transformative and humane education, which awakens in future teachers a passion for teaching and learning with a critical sense and social commitment.
