Two new bibliotecas in Peru!

We are happy to share with you two of our newest projects in Peru: Quihuares and Karhuacalla.

These two biblioteca projects will offer reinforcement workshops in the afternoon. Similar to our other biblioteca projects, these workshops will take advantage of working outside of regular school hours. They will complement the more formal education children receive in the classroom with a fun, creative, and flexible model which reinforces creativity, communication, harmonious values, and critical thinking. By bridging these themes with activities based on the students’ interests, the students can develop the analytical skills necessary to grow academically while playing and pursuing their own interests and creativity.20160816_142415

Biblioteca projects are extremely important in Peru, as they combat some of the greatest challenges in learning including improving a child’s reading comprehension. In the OECD’s most recent PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) exam, given in 2015, Peru ranked 60th of the participating 65 developing countries in reading comprehension.

We hope that through our Biblioteca projects like Quihuares and Karhuacalla, we will be able to improve our students reading comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity.
