On August 14th, Alma’s Young Leaders held their first #Volley4Alma Beach Volleyball Tournament. We are thrilled to say the tournament was a huge success!
The Young Leaders recruited 10 teams and over 55 participants to play at Ashbridges Bay. Each team represented one of Alma’s education projects in Peru and Bolivia. The winner of the tournament would have all funds raised go towards their project of choice and win a prize from Amsterdam Brewery.
After hours of fun in the sun, Team Nuevo Amanecer, led by Team Captain Wes Phelps, left the tournament not only as winners but as an undefeated team.
Thanks to the generosity of players and the hard work of volunteers, the tournament raised $1046 for our Nuevo Amanecer computer lab in Bolivia. Most importantly, the Young Leaders team was able to raise awareness of Alma’s education projects.
