It is often assumed that major educational transformations originate in the largest or best-resourced institutions. However, my experience during support visits with the ALMA team leads me to believe quite the opposite: rural schools are demonstrating that true change begins with the leadership and commitment of those who believe every student deserves a quality education.
The experience of Américo Aitara Ccana, principal of Educational Institution No. 56166 Kcana Janansaya, confirms this reality. His leadership has enabled teachers to incorporate pedagogical innovation strategies developed during training modules, thereby fostering complex thinking and strengthening teaching practices centered on student learning. Regardless of the size of the student body, the true value of this experience lies in the fact that an empowered, committed teacher will carry these insights to any school where they continue their work, multiplying the impact of innovative education.
Therefore, I believe that strengthening rural education is not merely about attending to the most remote schools; it is about recognizing that these schools are cultivating experiences capable of inspiring the ALMA initiative across the entire eTeachers at IE Kjanaducational system. When school leaders set an example, teachers are willing to innovate, and communities are committed to learning, educational transformation ceases to be an ideal and becomes a reality—one that begins in the classroom but ultimately benefits society as a whole.
