Alma has started a new academic reinforcement for two very remote communities in the San Andres district of Bolivia. The communities of Cotoca and La Manguita will receive educational reinforcement centers for both preschool and primary school, with the goal of improving the student’s’ academic performance in mathematics and communications.
To do so, we are hiring and training a teacher to work in the reinforcement centers with the students. Here the teacher will implement innovative teaching methods focused on mathematical reasoning, reading comprehension, and creativity. Our teacher will also provide training sessions to the classroom teachers in Cotoca.
Both communities are small and isolated (home to 10 families each) and neither has access to running water or electricity. The Municipality of San Andres is contributing construction materials and the communities parents labor in order to build the centers.
